HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS. There are several types of healthcare institutions, such as hospitals and polyclinics for adults and children, health centers, mothers and child support institutions, blood banks, emergency medical services units, hospitals for war veterans, medical centers, clinics (parts or branches of the institutions of higher education and research institutes), health retreat centers. In order to provide medical services to the population, there are central and rural hospitals, outpatient hospitals and feldsher/mid‑wife stations. The first healthcare institutions were opened in Bashkortostan in the middle of the 18th century. In 2017, there were more than 158 active healthcare institutions in the RB, out of which 153 were of the republican subordination and 5 were of federal subordination, including the Republican Clinical Hospital, the Republican Clinical Hospital No.2, the Children’s Clinical Hospital, the Car diology Centre, the Perinatal Centre, the Dental Outpatient Hospital and others. There are also private healthcare institutions.
