YAKUTOV, Ivan Stepanovich
YAKUTOV, Ivan Stepanovich [20.6.1868, Derevnya Korolyovo of Birsky Uyezd of Ufa Gub. (Askinsky Raion of the RB) – 7.11.1907, Ufa], Figure of the Revolutionary Movement. Graduated from the Ufa City Parish School (1881) and was a Member of the Social Democratic Group in Ufa since 1898. Since 1900, he headed the social democratic club of railroad workers in Ufa. Between 1903—05, he was in exile in Irkutsk Gub., where he guided a strike on the Siberian Railway. In 1905, supported by the Strike Committee of the Ufa railway workshops, he established the first Council of Workers’ Deputies in Bashkortostan and became its Сhairman. After the defeat of the workers’ armed uprising (ref. Revolution of 1905—07), he had to flee. He was arrested in Kharkiv and executed by shooting in Ufa Prison. In Ufa, there is a park and a monument therein named after Ya.
