ABDULLA‑AKHUN

“ABDULLAAKHUN”, is a Bashkir ethnic song, khalmak­kuy. The singing by A. Kurbangalin was first registered in the 1930’s in the Tuygun Yalan village of Katayskiy District in Chelyabinskaya region, and published by the composer A.S. Klyucharyev in “Tatar ethnic songs” (Kazan, 1941). The song is lyroepic. The verses usually contain lingering solos, and the rhythmized refrain resembles marching. Dedicated to Abdulla Davletshin, the head of the 10th Bashkir canton. Musical adaptions of “B.” for a solo and symphonic orchestra were made by Klucharyev, R.A. Murtazin, K.Y. Rakhimov, adaptations for a solo and piano – by S.G. Shagiakhmetova. The “B.” melody is used in ballets such as “Mountain story” by Klu­ charyev, “Gulnazina” by N.G. Sabitov, “Crane song” by L.B. Stepanov and Z.G. Ismagilov. It is also used in “Aykhylu” opera by M.M. Valeev and N.I. Peyko. The couplets usually contain lingering solos, and the rhythmized refrain resembles marching.
