NIGMAT KHAKIM

NIGMAT KHAKIM (real name Khakimov Nigmatulla Giniyatullovich; 29.12.1889 – 3.8.1937), turkologist, poet. His research is devoted to the development of the Turkic languages and grammar of the Tatar language. Author of more than 50 research papers. Recorded one of the versions of the epic “Idegey” (see “Idukay and Muradym”). The article “Katay Bashkirs” (1914) provides information about the life and folklore of the Bashkir tribe Katay. Delegate of the 1st All-Union Turkological Congress (Baku, 1926).
